Beginning Saturday, April 2: “Faces of Nelson County”

Nancy Lauler is launching a monthly portrait session of interesting people who live in Nelson County. The class will be on the first Saturday of every month in the Nancy Lauler Art Studio, Rm. 12.  A model has been hired to sit for this first session from 9am-12pm (with breaks of course).  If anyone would like to join Nancy, they are most welcome to participate!  Suggestions of models are also welcome.  Model will be hired for $15 per hour.  Artists will improve their portrait/figure skills and hopefully, the group will have enough portraits for a show/reception in a year's time!   A $10 donation is requested from any artist who chooses to attend, to help cover costs of the model and room.  Easels, chairs and tables are available.  Bring your own medium with drop cloth/old sheet for paint. Please contact nancylauler@yahoo.com for more information and sign up.  Drop-ins are welcome, if room permits.

Resuming Wednesday, April 6: Art classes with Nancy Lauler

Wednesdays, 9am—12pm, or Tuesdays 1—4pm (depending on interest and attendance.) $10/three-hour class.  An open studio class for all mediums, beginner to advanced levels. Easels and tables are provided—bring your own materials. Please email nancylauler@yahoo.com for more information and to sign up each week for the class.

"One of things I love about painting is that the journey always continues. My approach in the past has been to paint from studies, photos, or projects started outdoors. In more recent years, I've discovered the joy of painting more completely outdoors, attempting to complete the image in one sitting (or two). Call it impressionistic or Plein Air, it's a wonder for the soul to feel so close to nature, studying its form, color and space as the eye first takes it in or the mind remembers it. An added bonus is the gift of wildlife going on all around me, as if I'm part of their world. My new journey in the later years of my life is to enjoy the process and worry less about outcome or perfection. Perfection is overrated, as we all know." --Nancy Lauler
